Jessie Hill has been a design career in-reverse in the Australian sense. Rather than making her mark in her home country she initially achieved success in the international arena.
Firstly as the head women’s wear designer for cult label Buddhist Punk and then in launching the label that bears her name at New York Fashion Week in 2005.
In her third season and establishing herself as designer in Australia she has launched her unique aesthetic to a willing audience. Feminine, yet erring on the side of darkness and beautifully embellished, the Jessie Hill collections are truly a metaphor for herself; her design always a reflection of her appreciation for film and the visual arts. |
