The essence behind Silence is Golden's design philosophy is: silence meaning subtlety and calm, golden meaning treasured and charming. Rather than being lurid and loud, the designer has chosen to exert restraint, but remain distinctive. Designer, Kelvin Tam wanted to create that moment to share, to participate in the wearer's existence. As the collections are theme-based, every season has a differing storyboard- all with a consistent attitude: the men are sophisticated but mischievous, the women are elegant survivors. Kelvin is a trained and practising architect with a penchant for fashion and styling. With a strong design background, Kelvin sets out to achieve the delicate balance between his structured tailoring aesthetic along with fluid lines to create a subtle, yet undeniable femininity for his women's collections.
Winning Mercedes-Benz Start Up is a true appreciation and recognition of his work. Not one to rest on his laurels, Kelvin has since been a successful participant in L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival and has recently presented his Spring Summer 07/08 collection ‘The Apartment' to rave reviews at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week Spring Summer 07/08. |
