Melanie Greensmith opened her iconic Wheels & DollBaby boutique in 1987 in Sydney's hip Crown Street, Darlinghurst. She began by selling hard to find imports from the US and UK in conjunction with designing her own collections. These designs soon attracted more attention than the imports, and the Wheels and DollBaby label quickly took off.
One of the first celebrity customers to come in was Michael Jackson, wanting a customized leather jacket for his BAD Tour. The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, the Divinyls and INXS all followed, buying clothes for their tours and it wasn't long before the label became synonymous with all things rock.
Although the label constantly evolves, there is always a strong rock 'n' roll feel with Melanie's sense of fun coming through in her designs. They have been described as everything from 'Posh Punk' and 'Parisian Scruff' to old world movie star glamour.
Highly sought the world over, its contemporary devotees include Dita Von Teese, Gwen Stephani, Kate Hudson, Pink and Daryl Hannah and we are delighted to offer Wheels & DollBaby ... Clothes to Snare a Millionaire! |
